Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: How much does it cost?
- A: Our Escape to the Highlands tour costs $160 (incl GST) and includes the services of your driver / guide, all transport, tastings at up to 4 wineries, a 3-course gourmet lunch, a delicious cheese and wine pairing and your personalised tasting tool kit. Custom tour itineraries and group tour pricing will vary. Please contact us directly for a quote.
- Q: Can you pick me up at my hotel?
- A: Sydney is Australia's largest city, with lots of traffic. So we have carefully planned a pick up and drop off route that will minimise any time you spend waiting. We have been on tours ourselves where we have spent up to an hour and a half driving from hotel to hotel before departing for a tour and don't want our passengers to suffer that same fate. Our wine tours depart from Sydney with four convenient pick up and drop off locations to choose from. One of these locations should be an easy walk or short cab ride from your hotel. If you have any concerns or need more detailed directions please do not hesitate to call our office directly. Contact information is available on our contact page
- Q: What are the Wineries like?
- A: All of the wineries in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales are boutique in nature but that doesn't necessarily mean small. What it does mean is that the passionate people who own and operate them are very involved at every stage and (we feel) can provide a better product and customer experience than some of the larger corporate producers in very developed areas like the Hunter or Barossa Valleys, two of Australia's better known wine regions.
- Q: Will I be able to make purchases throughout the day?
- A: Quite simply yes. We hope that you will find several things to take home with you. Whether it is wine, cheese, gourmet food products or maybe something from one of the antique shops or art galleries of Berrima we will help you get it home safely. We always carry a cool box to keep your perishables fresh for the journey home.
- Q: What should I wear?
- A: The Southern Highlands is higher in elevation than Sydney and usually a few degrees cooler, so you might want to bring along a light layer to add if it cools down. Also a pair of closed toe shoes is highly recommended, as we will be touring some of the facilities and weather permitting taking a little walk out into the vineyard.
- To see what the weather may have in store for you on your trip take a look at the Detailed Weather Forecast for Bowral covering the next 48 hours.
- Q: Should I bring anything else with me?
- A: There are small things that sometimes people forget so I would suggest sunscreen, a hat and a camera and don't forget a sense of adventure. A full 3 course gourmet lunch will be provided and a cheese and wine pairing should fill you up but if you want to bring a few snacks along please feel free to do so. If you are on any medications or need to carry an asthma puffer or eppy pen for allergies make sure to bring them along for the ride as well.
- Q: Can I pay on the day?
-
A: Yes you can pay on the day with Australian Cash, however your
booking will need to be held with a credit card. It would also be greatly appreciated if you have the correct change
for your guide, as they do not carry large sums of cash to make change. If you cancel your booking, cancellation fees
will be charged in accordance with our refund policy (please see our
terms and conditions).
- Q: What are your vehicles like?
- A: We have a variety of vehicles to choose from that can carry 10, 12, 14, 15, 20 and 22 passengers and will take the vehicle that best suits your group size. All vehicles are air conditioned and fitted with comfortable seating and modern amenities but none have toilet facilities on board. For special group charters we can go larger but for our standard tours we like to keep seating at about 15 to 20 to maintain a more intimate and personal group setting.
- Q: Why do your go to the Southern Highlands?
- A: The Hunter Valley, north of Sydney, is great but we choose to go to the Southern Highlands for something unique and refreshingly different. Most wine growing regions in Australia are warm climate regions. The Southern Highlands is a "Cool Climate" region, which means that the grapes take longer to ripen, have more time for the vines to feed them the good stuff and retain a naturally higher acidity. This produces a uniquely different, light and elegant style of wine. When growing grapes climate is what really makes the wines different.
- Q: Can I change my booking?
- A: Yes you can but changes will be subject to availability. If you cannot make your scheduled tour for any reason please call our office directly as soon as possible. If you cancel your booking, cancellation fees will be charged in accordance with our refund policy (please see our terms and conditions.
